December 11, 2024

We returned to the construction site between Courtea de Argeș and Pitești within section 5 of the Sibiu-Pitești highway. Thanks to the exemplary work of the contractor, we will open a section of this segment to traffic within days, more than 8 months ahead of the contractual deadline. Therefore, around 16 kilometers of the 30-kilometer stretch will soon be opened to traffic, specifically between the Bascov and Băiculești highway interchanges.

The overall construction work stands as follows: - Although weather conditions have not been very favorable recently, the contractor has effectively mobilized resources to complete the final preparations to open the 16-kilometer section for traffic. - The road marking painting is ongoing. - The asphalt layer installation is completed between the Băiculești interchange and the Bucharest-Pitești highway connection. - The impressive asphalt layer installation continues between the Băiculești and Courtea de Argeș interchanges. - The installation of noise barriers, metal railings, and protective fencing is also ongoing.

Roadside drainage, the central ditch, and additional road canal construction are progressing. - The work on public lighting and ITS systems continues. - The installation of public lighting in short-term parking lots and service areas is also ongoing. - The construction of maintenance and control centers in the Courtea de Argeș and Bascov areas is ongoing. - The work at the bridges over the Argeș River is showing consistent progress, with various sections already in their final stages. This section also includes the development of three major interchanges: - At the Băiculești interchange, all asphalt layers, public lighting, and roundabout construction have been completed.

The installation of metal railings and further ditch construction works are still ongoing. - At the Bascov interchange, the earthworks, asphalt layers, public lighting, and sidewalk renovation are completed. The next steps include the roundabout construction and metal railing installation. - At the Courtea de Argeș interchange, the construction of pillars is finished, and the laying of base and related layers is ongoing. There are currently 1179 workers, 190 machines, and 152 vehicles working at the project site. According to the current schedule, the entire section up to Courtea de Argeș is expected to be opened to traffic earlier than anticipated, by spring.
