M9: Planning of Hungary's longest highway reaches milestone Good news about the M9 highway: the planning of a 57-kilometer section has begun. The contract for the section between main roads 51 and 53, which would connect Dusnok and Tompa, was signed on June 5.
In March, Világgazdaság reported on the developments around the M9 highway, when, commissioned by the Ministry of Construction and the Transport Engineering Center, Roden Kft. and Főmterv Zrt. were assigned to prepare the section running from Tompa to the national border.
The plan for the M9 highway has been known since 2001. It would be approximately 300 kilometers in its entirety and would serve to connect the radial rapid transit road network.
